Collectors Weekly
I was recently alerted to an article in Collectors Weekly entitled Before Camping Got Wimpy: Roughing It With the Victorians. Definitely check it out. The article surveys the desire in the late 1800′s to escape ever-growing cities, leading to recreational camping and, as author Hunter Oatman-Stanford writes, a ”camping impulse [that] helped inspire the campaign to create America’s first National Parks.”
I hadn’t heard of Collectors Weekly before, but it’s pretty great. You can search multiple categories, including “Music and Movies” and “Sports and Outdoors” and the site aggregates ebay listings. Give it look.
