CCC and NPS
I recently discovered an online book made available by the National Park Service detailing the historic relationship between the Civilian Conservation Corps and the NPS.
I have been interested in the history of the CCC for years, and in the Pacific Northwest, as in much of the rest of the country, we still benefit from the legacy of that program.

Yeah man, Its was a amazing program, providing jobs in the time when they were scarce. From what I have read and have seen they were a proud bunch of folks for sure.
Too true. We could use something like it again…perhaps a scale up of the AmeriCorps program in the U.S.?
Is there a comparable national service program in Canada?
Ryan, Nothing as close to the extent of CCC. The closest I would think is the MNR back in the day (60′s – 70′s) had quite a collection of awesome trail maintenance and back country builders…long gone, maybe two a park if that.
Have you seen this?

Great documentary!
Chris – I have seen the CCC film on our local PBS station, but I didn’t realize it was available to watch online. Thanks for sending the link!
