ALICE
Up until today, I didn’t really have a functional, framed backpack for multi-day trips. I have used one of my two Swiss rucksacks for overnight backpacking trips in the past, but it has always been a little cumbersome to fit everything and lash on all of the needed gear.
Today I found ALICE, the “All-purpose Lightweight Individual Carrying Equipment” backpack that has been used by the Army since 1973. Sgt. Gators Post Exchange came through for me again.
And while I’ve seen the medium ALICE with a frame for up to $140 (!) online, this one didn’t cost anything near that. I think under $40 is a pretty good deal on any frame pack.
